After earning my degree in Photojournalism from Indiana University, I started out as a commercial photographer and a photography assistant in St. Louis just as the industry was beginning to transform from film to digital. I always loved working in the darkroom; digital imaging for me is sort of an extension of that process. I could spend hours perfecting a print in the darkroom back when I started, and it is the same way now when I work on images in Photoshop.
As digital imaging really began to take over the industry in the late 1990s, I realized that my passion was in retouching and began doing it professionally around the beginning of 2002. I grew with the industry—from loading 4x5 film and shooting Polaroids to running my own digital imaging business. I really like projects that challenge me creatively like complex composite images with a lot of special effects. I love projects that take a lot of thinking and finessing.
